CSO reveal Ireland’s 2016 burglary statistics

You may have heard there were almost 10,000 burglaries in Dublin over the last 12 months? According to figures that were recently released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) there was 9,636 burglaries across the capital in the last year alone.

Despite the high figures in Dublin, burglaries were actually down 26.3% nationwide in one of the biggest drops ever recorded. The West of Ireland is the safest place against burglaries so far, with 626 for the first half of this year.

With the arrival of new and affordable home monitoring companies, such as HomeSecure.ie, homes have never been safer. Did you know a monitored home is 2.6 times less likely to broken into according to recent CSO stats?

This nationwide drop however isn’t expected to last as burglaries are unfortunately due to rise over the next few months as we approach Christmas. We see a spike in break-ins occur between October and January when the hour changes due to Winter’s extra dark hours.
