Elderly Woman in Sligo Victim of Aggravated Burglary

An intruder entered a home and threatened the inhabitant of the house in Carrickbanagher near Cooloney in Sligo. The male intruder was described as wearing dark clothing and set off on foot from the home at 2:30am with a number of item including an undisclosed sum of cash.

An elderly lady is being treated for the wounds she received during the burglary, the assault was reported by another family member upon their return to the home shortly after the incident.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area during the hours of 12 midnight and 3am they may have seen anything out of the ordinary. They are also requesting that any motorists who were travelling the Balymote town towards Drumfin (R293) or Cooloney to Tubbercurry (N17), finally Drumfin (N4) and saw any suspicious activity to report it.
